Double Door Bar Fridges: Sizes, Heated Glass and Venue Use Explained
A double door bar fridge gives you far more room than a single door model while still fitting under a bench or against a wall. Search for a 2 door bar fridge, a bar fridge 2 door, a double bar fridge or a two door bar fridge and you are looking for the same thing: two doors, a large cabinet and a lot of drinks on display. This guide uses the real specifications of the models we sell, so you can compare sizes, door types and prices before you choose.
What counts as a double door bar fridge
Our range has 29 double and triple door models in total, from 190 to 473 litres. The biggest group is the Hinged Double Glass Door range, with 17 models from 208 to 473 litres. There is also a sliding door model, and the 2 door Schmick SK190 range that sits with our commercial triple door models. Browse them all in the double and triple door category or go straight to the hinged double glass door range.
Double door bar fridge sizes
Check the exterior size before anything else. Across the 17 hinged double glass door models:
- Width: 870 to 900 mm, so you need a gap of about 90 cm.
- Depth: 500 to 590 mm, which is deeper than most single door models.
- Height: 800 to 875 mm for the under bench models, and 1,820 mm for the tall upright Rhino SGT2-BS.
- Capacity: 208 to 473 litres, holding from 240 up to 450 standard cans.
Most are built to slide under a standard bench, which is why they share a similar height. If you plan to build one in, read our built in bar fridge guide first, because front venting matters when there is cabinetry on each side.
Under bench or upright
The under bench models, such as the Rhino SG2H-B at 208 litres and 900 x 500 x 840 mm, are the usual choice for a home bar or a back bar. The one tall model, the Rhino SGT2-BS at 473 litres, is 1,820 mm high and 900 mm wide, so it suits a venue or a large entertaining area with floor space to spare. Our bar fridge dimensions guide shows how these sizes compare with the rest of the range.
Glass doors, solid doors and heated glass
Glass doors show off the drinks, which is why most double door bar fridges in venues have them. Fourteen of our double and triple door models have heated glass, which helps reduce condensation on the door, and the Schmick SK190 range adds triple glazing. If you prefer a clean look or want to hide the contents, four hinged models have solid stainless steel doors, such as the Schmick SK246-SD. Our glass door fridge guide explains how glazing works.
Hinged or sliding doors
Almost every double door model has hinged doors. The sliding door option, the Rhino SG2S-B at 208 litres, does not swing out into the room, which helps in a narrow bar area or a walkway. Hinged doors give wider access to the shelves and are easier to clean, so choose by the space you have in front of the fridge.
Noise, energy and climate
A double door bar fridge is a bigger machine, so noise and running cost matter. In the hinged double glass door range the sound rating is 42 to 45 dB and the energy rating runs from 5 to 10 stars, and all 17 are tropical rated for Australian summers. Each product page lists its own figures, and our quiet bar fridge guide explains how to read the sound rating.
Double door bar fridge prices
Hinged double glass door models range from $1,687 for the Schmick SK246-SD up to $2,727 for the 473 litre Rhino SGT2-BS. The Schmick SK246-B-HD, a black heated glass 257 litre twin door model, is $1,887, and the Rhino SG2H-B is $1,877. Prices on each product page are final, and shipping is free across Australia.
Home bar or venue
For a home bar or man cave, a 208 to 274 litre under bench double door model is plenty, and the quieter Schmick models suit open plan living. For pubs, cafes and clubs, look at the larger and commercial rated models and read our commercial bar fridge guide, which also covers the triple door range. If your bar is outdoors, the Rhino GSP2H-SS is a 210 litre twin door alfresco model with an IP24 rating and low E glass.
One double door fridge or two single door fridges
A double door bar fridge puts all your drinks in one cabinet, so you only need one gap and one power point. A 257 litre twin door model such as the Schmick SK246-B-HD is 895 mm wide, while two single door fridges need two spaces side by side. The two door layout also lets you keep different drinks in each door section, for example soft drinks on one side and beer on the other. Single door models still win when you only have a narrow gap, so browse the single door range if the width is tight.
